Sunday December 23, 2018 Calendar-:   Fourth Sunday of Advent Year C Colour of Vestment:  Purple Saint of the day-:  "SAINT JOHN OF KANTY, Priest". FIRST READING Taken from-:   “From you shall come forth one who is to be ruler in Israel.” A reading from the Book of the Prophet Micah (Micah 5 :2-5a) Thus says the LORD!  You, O Bethlehem  Ephrathah,  who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days. Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who has labour pains has brought forth; then the rest of his brethren shall return to the sons of Israel. And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. And this shall be peace. The word of the Lord. RESPONSORIAL PSALM   Gotten from-:   "

Today being the 14th day of February, is Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday as you all may know, is a period of fasting, and abstinence from sins whatsoever.

Ash Wednesday was drafted out, when our Lord Jesus Christ, fasted in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights.

This is a period Christians,  most especially the Catholic faithfuls, ought to abstain themselves from sin, from the things they love most. Things like-:

1) Sex

2) Gossips

3) Malice

4) Lies

5) Fighting e.t.c.

Also, fasting or abstaining theirselves from those worldly things they enjoyed doing or love engaging theirselves in, such as-:

* Drinking

* Surfing or daily engagement to social media

* Parties e.t.c.

As Christians, as catholics there are some things you need to be seen doing at this period, or even in your life time, such as-:

☆ Daily recitation of the rosary,

☆ Daily praying

☆ Reading of your bible (the word of God)

☆ Helping those in need

☆ Visiting of the less previliaged homes (orphanage homes)

☆ Praying or visiting the prisoners

☆ Preaching the word of God

☆ Advising those whose ways to Christ are lost.

Those are what Christians, and catholics ought to be seen doing in this period of lent.

Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of lent, it reminds us that dust we came, and that through dust we shall all depart.

You as a human being, living in this world came to the world through dust, also naked and empty, if you remember this, why then are you struggling to gain and acquire all the things of this world, rather than fighting and struggling to make the kingdom of God, which is in heaven?

We as Christians, battle and kill ourselves over worldly things that are irrelevant, we need to fight and struggle to get heaven.

"What does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and suffers the lost of his own soul in hell fire"

Please let's be wise, and know what to fight for as Christians and as catholics.
