Sunday December 23, 2018 Calendar-:   Fourth Sunday of Advent Year C Colour of Vestment:  Purple Saint of the day-:  "SAINT JOHN OF KANTY, Priest". FIRST READING Taken from-:   “From you shall come forth one who is to be ruler in Israel.” A reading from the Book of the Prophet Micah (Micah 5 :2-5a) Thus says the LORD!  You, O Bethlehem  Ephrathah,  who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days. Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who has labour pains has brought forth; then the rest of his brethren shall return to the sons of Israel. And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. PRAYER OF THE IMITATION OF THE CROSS

    

This prayer,was sent by the Pope to the emperor Charles V. who was going to war against his Kingdom enemies. It was afterwards sent to Saint Micheal in France.

This prayer was found under the then Sepulchre of Jesus Christ in the year 1505. He who reads this prayer, or hears it read, or carries it with him, shall not die an unexpected death or sudden death. He shall neither be poisoned, drowned, nor will that person be burnt, nor fall into the hands of his/her enemies, nor be vanquished or destroyed in battle.

   Also, any woman, either pregnant or barren that reads this prayer, or hears it read or carries it with her, will be happily delivered and when the baby is born, if this prayer is put or kept on its right hand side, it will preserve that baby from a countless accidents or harm or danger on that child. Also from epilepsy, and if this prayer is put on an epileptic patient, he/she will be relieved if not cured that's if the person has faith and is devoted to it.

    Our Lord has promised to bless him, who recites or procures this prayer for himself/herself or for others and to punish him who scoffs or mock it. He who reads this prayer daily, shall be warned of the approach of his/her death, also foresee signs of his/her death in orderin order to make amendments.

Leader: God, all powerful, who has suffered on the cross,

Reasponse: be with us.

Leader: Holy cross of Jesus,

Response: be our hope

Response: Pour into us all good.

Response: Turn away from us all evils.

Leader: Holy cross of Jesus Christ,

Response: Make us well in the paths of salvation.

Respose: Preserve us from all spiritual and temporal accidents.

Response: now and for ever,

Leader: Jesus of Nazareth crucified;

Response: Have pity on us, make the invisible fly from us now and for ever and ever, Amen.

Leader: Holy Mary, Mother of God, Saint Joseph, Saint Michael the Archangel and Holy Angels,

Response: Protect us Amen.

 Let us Pray: " O good and gentle Jesus, before thy face I humbly kneel and with the greatest fervour of spirit I beg and beseech of thee to implant firmly into my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity; contrition for my sins and firm purpose of amendment. Meanwhile, I meditate on thy five most precious wounds, having ever before my eyes the words of David, the prophet, concerning thee, my Jesus; they have pierced my hands and my feet, they have numbered all my bones".

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us on the day of battle. Be Our safeguard against the wickedness and the snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and may you O! prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan and all its agents who patrol through the World seeking the ruins of souls, Amen.
